About Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju
Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju traces decades in the life of storyteller Yakumo, from his rivalry with the gifted Sukeroku to his late decision to take the ex-convict Yotarou as an apprentice. Studio Deen adapted Haruko Kumota's manga as a two-part OVA in 2015 and two TV seasons in 2016 and 2017, and the story runs in a straight line, so release order matches story order.
Good to know
The TV premiere reworks the OVA story, so starting with season 1 loses nothing. The 2018 NHK live-action drama is a separate adaptation and is not part of this list.
