The remake run that starts with Yamato 2199 retells the 1974 voyage to Iscandar with modern animation and leads into 2202, 2205 and the ongoing 3199.
The original run from 1974 to 1983 tells a longer self-contained saga that ends with Final Yamato and the later Resurrection film.

Yamato 3199 Chapter 6 opened in Japan on June 26, 2026 and the seventh and final chapter screens on October 30, 2026. Start with the remake if you are new, since it is complete through 2205 and 3199 is still rolling out.
