About Casper
Casper debuted in the Noveltoon short The Friendly Ghost in 1945 and headlined 55 theatrical cartoons through 1959 before moving to television and comics. The 1995 live-action film made him the first fully CGI lead character in a feature, followed by direct-to-video sequels and the Scare School era.
Good to know
The theatrical shorts and most TV episodes are standalone, so strict order matters little outside the 1990s films. Disney+ landed a live-action Casper series from Rob Letterman, Hilary Winston and Steven Spielberg in April 2026, still in early development with no date set.
