About Moral Orel
Moral Orel is a stop-motion series created by Dino Stamatopoulos for Adult Swim. It ran from December 13, 2005 to December 18, 2008, with 43 episodes across three seasons of 10, 20 and 13 episodes. The show follows Orel Puppington, a devout 12-year-old in the town of Moralton, plus his alcoholic father Clay and his checked-out mother Bloberta.
Watch the three seasons in air order, then the prequel special Beforel Orel: Trust, which aired November 19, 2012 and covers Orel's turn to faith and Shapey's birth. The tone shifts hard along the way. Season 1 is self-contained religious satire, the season 2 finale two-parter Nature turns the show into bleak family drama, and season 3 replays events as one interconnected flashback arc.
Good to know
Season 1's finale, The Best Christmas Ever, aired first as a December 2005 preview, which can confuse on first viewing. Adult Swim cut season 3 from a planned 20 episodes to 13, leaving seven scripts unproduced. In March 2025 Stamatopoulos posted a script cover teasing a possible film, with no studio approval reported, so it is not listed.
