Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal pairs Spear, a caveman at the dawn of evolution, with Fang the dinosaur after both lose their families. The near-wordless Adult Swim series ran 10 episodes in season 1 (2019 to 2020) and 10 in season 2 (2022), ending on Spear's death.
Watch the three seasons in release order. Season 3, which premiered January 11, 2026, resurrects Spear stripped of memory and only lands if you carry both earlier seasons with you.
Good to know
Season 2 closed with Spear's fatal final standoff in 2022. Adult Swim ordered season 3 and dated its premiere to January 11, 2026, with next-day Max streaming. No season 4 has been ordered. In January 2026 interviews Tartakovsky said this run finishes the Spear and Fang story but floated anthology-style ideas for a possible fourth season.
