About Dragon Age
BioWare's Dragon Age is a dark fantasy RPG series where each entry follows a new hero: the Warden in Origins, Hawke in Dragon Age II, the Inquisitor in Inquisition and Rook in the Veilguard. Choices carry across games through save imports, and the Trespasser epilogue to Inquisition sets up the Veilguard directly. Release order is story order.
Start with Origins, including the Awakening expansion, for the full choices chain. Players who want modern combat can begin with Inquisition instead, then read a plot recap of the first two before the Veilguard.
Good to know
No new Dragon Age has been announced as of Sept 2026. BioWare confirmed the Veilguard would get no story DLC, ending support with small patches, then moved the team to the next Mass Effect after layoffs in early 2025. Series veterans David Gaider and Mark Darrah have said publicly they doubt EA will approve another entry, but EA has not officially shelved the franchise.
