About Beethoven
John Hughes created Beethoven, the St. Bernard who joined the Newton family in the 1992 hit, with a theatrical sequel in 1993 and an animated series in 1994.
Five direct to video sequels followed from 2000 to 2014, with the last three rebooting the setup outside the Newton family.
Good to know
The first two films opened in theaters and the rest went direct to video.
Beethoven's 5th closes the original storyline, so the reboot trio can be skipped or saved for last.
