About Blade

New Line's Blade trilogy stars Wesley Snipes as the vampire hunter, with David S. Goyer writing all three films. Stephen Norrington directed Blade (1998), Guillermo del Toro directed Blade II (2002), and Goyer directed Blade: Trinity (2004), which adds Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Biel and pits Blade against Dracula. The three films form a finished arc.

Marvel announced an MCU reboot with Mahershala Ali in 2019. Ali voiced Blade briefly in Eternals (2021), but two directors exited, the film lost its 2025 date in 2024, and in July 2026 Ali said he had moved on while Kevin Feige admitted the film never got off the ground. Snipes returned as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). The trilogy stands alone until Marvel dates anything new.

Good to know

Marvel has not formally used the word cancelled and supernatural team-up rumors persist, so the reboot is tracked as announced with no date rather than dead. Treat any new Blade date as unconfirmed until Marvel sets one.
