About Cloverfield
Three Cloverfield films were released between 2008 and 2018, and they connect only loosely. The found-footage original shows a monster attack on New York, 10 Cloverfield Lane traps its leads in a bunker during an invasion, and The Cloverfield Paradox frames a space-station accident as the cause behind it all. Each stands alone.
Release order is the recommended path. It matches how the mystery was actually built, including the surprise Netflix drop of Paradox. Expect shared branding and hints rather than one continuous plot with returning leads.
Good to know
A fourth film is in development: Joe Barton wrote the script, Babak Anvari signed on to direct in 2022, and Abrams is producing, with Anvari still coy about it in March 2025. No title or date as of this check. A Quiet Place was once floated as a possible Cloverfield entry before becoming standalone.
