About It
Stephen King's 1986 novel about Pennywise, the clown face of an evil under Derry, Maine, has three screen versions. ABC aired a two-part miniseries in 1990 with Tim Curry; Andy Muschietti split the book into Chapter One (2017, the Losers as kids) and Chapter Two (2019, the Losers grown). Bill Skarsgard plays Pennywise in both films.
HBO's It: Welcome to Derry (season 1, eight episodes from October 26, 2025) rewinds to 1962 with Skarsgard back and Muschietti producing. HBO renewed it for season 2 in August 2026, with three seasons planned reaching back to 1935 and 1908. Release order first; the story-order list puts Derry first.
Good to know
The 1990 miniseries aired November 18 and 20 on ABC and splits its story between 1960 and 1990, so its slot in the story-order list is approximate: it retells the same Losers arc as the two films rather than continuing it. Derry season 1 ran October 26 to December 14, 2025; season 2 has no air date as of September 17, 2026.
