About James Bond

Eon Productions has made 25 Bond films across six decades, from Dr. No in 1962 to No Time to Die in 2021. Six actors have held the 007 code number: Connery (6 films), Lazenby (1), Moore (7), Dalton (2), Brosnan (4) and Craig (5). Apart from the Craig run, continuity stays loose, so release order works as story order.

Craig's era ended with Bond's death in No Time to Die. Amazon MGM took creative control from Eon in 2025 and set Denis Villeneuve to direct Bond 26, with Steven Knight writing and Amy Pascal and David Heyman producing. No actor has been announced; Amazon confirmed in May 2026 that the search was underway.

Good to know

The two non-Eon films sit outside this list: the 1967 Casino Royale spoof and 1983's Never Say Never Again, Connery's remake of Thunderball. Casting rumors change weekly and none are confirmed. September 2026 press coverage suggested Knight's remarks meant a decision had been made, but Amazon MGM announced no casting, so the role stays uncast as of this check.
