About Jumanji
Four released films run from the 1995 board game original starring Robin Williams to the Dwayne Johnson led video game era of Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and The Next Level (2019). Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005) adapts Chris Van Allsburg's companion book and sits in the same universe, though director Jon Favreau rejects the direct sequel label.
Watch in release order. Zathura is optional and self contained, so purists can skip it. The fifth film, Jumanji: Open World, is dated December 25, 2026 after moving from December 11, with Jake Kasdan directing and newcomers Brittany O'Grady and Burn Gorman joining the returning cast.
Good to know
Sony's current title is Jumanji: Open World. Principal photography was scheduled from November 2025. Kevin Hart has called it the planned finale, but Sony has not confirmed that.
