About Lone Wolf and Cub

Ogami Itto, framed shogunate executioner, wanders Japan with his infant son Daigoro across six films released between 1972 and 1974.

Tomisaburo Wakayama plays Ogami in all six, and the story ends on screen, so release order is the whole guide.

Good to know

Shogun Assassin (1980) recuts the first two films for American audiences, so skip it if you watch the originals. The manga by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima runs much longer than the films, which close the story on their own terms.
