About Tintin

The Ellipse-Nelvana series The Adventures of Tintin (1991-1992) adapts Herge's comics faithfully across 39 episodes, from The Crab with the Golden Claws to Tintin in Tibet. It remains the most complete screen version of the books. Steven Spielberg's motion-capture film The Adventures of Tintin (2011) blends three albums into one treasure hunt, with Jamie Bell as Tintin and Andy Serkis as Haddock.

Watch the series first, then the film. The two stand apart, so either order works, but the series gives the fuller picture of Herge's world.

Good to know

The long-promised sequel is active again: Peter Jackson said at Cannes in May 2026 that he is writing the script with Fran Walsh and plans to direct, honoring his pact with Spielberg. No adapted books, cast deals, filming window, or release date have been confirmed; Prisoners of the Sun was a decade-old working title and may not apply. The official tintin.com site restated in July 2026 that development was back on track.
