About Broadchurch
Broadchurch ran on ITV from March 4, 2013 to April 17, 2017: three series, 24 episodes, one coastal town. David Tennant and Olivia Colman play DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller. Series 1 covers the murder of Danny Latimer, series 2 pairs the trial with Hardy's old Sandbrook case, and series 3 investigates the assault of Trish Winterman.
Creator Chris Chibnall planned it as a trilogy and has said it will not return. Fox aired a separate 10-episode US remake, Gracepoint, in late 2014 with Tennant leading a new cast and a different resolution; it is optional and kept out of this list.
Good to know
Gracepoint aired on Fox from October 2 to December 11, 2014 and was not renewed. It retells the first-series setup with new character names (the Latimers become the Solanos) and its own ending, so it works as a curiosity after Broadchurch, not as part of it. A French remake, Malaterra, also exists and is likewise excluded.
