About Scrubs
Scrubs aired on NBC from 2001 to 2008, moved to ABC, and closed its original run with the season 8 finale My Finale in May 2009. Season 9 followed that December as a 13-episode med-school reboot at Winston University, with Cox and Turk as teachers, Kerry Bishe's Lucy as the new narrator, and Zach Braff in six episodes. ABC cancelled it in May 2010. Creator Bill Lawrence asked fans to treat it as a separate show, and the 2026 revival sets it aside.
ABC ordered the revival in July 2025. It premiered February 25, 2026 with nine episodes: J.D. returns to Sacred Heart as chief of medicine, with Braff, Sarah Chalke and Donald Faison as regulars and John C. McGinley and Judy Reyes recurring. ABC renewed it on April 30, 2026. The next season is dated September 30, 2026 and is tracked below as unreleased.
Good to know
The revival picks up from the season 8 finale and ignores the season 9 demolition of Sacred Heart, per Lawrence. Season 9 still counts as released and stays in this list for completeness. One conflict to flag: some listings credit the dated eleventh season with 10 episodes, but ABC had not confirmed a count as of the April 2026 renewal coverage, so no count is stated here.
