About Spartacus
Starz series Spartacus ran from January 2010 to April 2013, following the Thracian gladiator revolt across Blood and Sand, Vengeance, and War of the Damned, with the six-part Gods of the Arena prequel airing in between after Andy Whitfield fell ill.
House of Ashur premiered December 5, 2025 as an alternate timeline sequel in which Ashur survives and inherits the ludus, and Starz canceled it on May 22, 2026 after one season.
Good to know
Liam McIntyre replaced Whitfield from Vengeance onward, and Whitfield died September 11, 2011. Lionsgate is shopping House of Ashur to other outlets, but no pickup was confirmed as of September 17, 2026, so this guide treats the story as complete.
