About Gundam
Universal Century is one long timeline that starts with the 1979 series and runs through Zeta, ZZ and Char's Counterattack into Unicorn, Hathaway and GQuuuuuuX. The 0079 compilation films from 1981 to 1982 condense the first series, so pick the series or the films, not both.
Every alternate universe resets continuity. Wing, SEED, 00, Iron-Blooded Orphans and Witch from Mercury each start fresh, and dozens of side stories exist beyond the entries named here.
Good to know
GQuuuuuuX opened as the Beginning film in January 2025, then ran 12 TV episodes from April to June 2025; it branches off the original 0079 story, so it plays after 0079 rather than inside the main timeline. Hathaway Part 2, The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, opened in Japan on January 30, 2026 after a delay from 2025. A third Hathaway film and a Hollywood live-action project are announced but undated.
