Nagate Tanikaze climbs out of Sidonia's underlevels into a war against the shapeshifting Gauna, and his freak piloting talent makes him the seed ship's reluctant ace. Season 1 runs 12 episodes from April to June 2014 and Battle for Planet Nine adds 12 more across the same months in 2015, both from Polygon Pictures.
Love Woven in the Stars (June 2021) is a sequel film that adapts the manga ending, set about a decade after the series, so it closes the story rather than recapping it. A 2015 compilation film retells season 1 and can be skipped. Watch the two seasons, then the 2021 film.
