Watch Order (Release = Chronological)Recommended

0 / 6 watched

The main story in air order. Use a filler guide inside the two long series and slot the canon films where noted.

  1. 1 Naruto 2002 · series 220 episodes, 2002 to 2007. Skip filler (notably episodes 136 to 220) on a first watch.
  2. 2 Naruto Shippuden episodes 1 to 493 2007 · series 2007 to 2017. Again, use a filler list, about 205 of 500 episodes are filler.
  3. 3 The Last: Naruto the Movie 2014 · movie Canon. Fits between Shippuden episodes 493 and 494.
  4. 4 Naruto Shippuden episodes 494 to 500 2017 · series The series finale arc.
  5. 5 Boruto: Naruto the Movie 2015 · movie Canon. Retold early in the Boruto series, so you can watch either version.
  6. 6 Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 2017 · series 293 episodes, 2017 to 2023. On hiatus. Latest released anime episode aired March 2023.

About Naruto

Naruto follows an orphaned ninja who dreams of becoming Hokage, across the original 220-episode series and the 500-episode Shippuden. Two films are canon and required: The Last, which closes Naruto's own story, and the Boruto film, which hands the lead to his son. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations continues with the next generation for 293 episodes.

Both long series carry heavy filler, roughly 40 percent of each. A filler-skip list is the difference between a great watch and a stalled one.

Good to know

Only two films matter for the plot: The Last (watch after Shippuden episode 493, before the final episodes) and the Boruto film (watch after Shippuden, before or instead of Boruto's retelling arc). Every other film is a non-canon side story you can skip or save for later.

The Boruto: Two Blue Vortex anime adapting the manga sequel is confirmed in production at Studio Pierrot with no premiere date yet. The manga itself runs monthly in V-Jump.
