About Soul Eater
Maka Albarn and her living scythe Soul collect evil souls to forge a death scythe for Lord Death's academy. Studio Bones animated all 51 episodes from April 2008 to March 2009. The weekly broadcast caught up with Atsushi Ohkubo's monthly manga, so the anime leaves the source material around episode 36 to 38 and ends with its own finale.
There is only one list. Watch the 51 episodes, then the 2014 prequel spinoff Soul Eater NOT! if you want more school life at the academy. Readers who want Ohkubo's real ending should pick up the manga from around chapter 36, since the two versions resolve the Kishin Asura conflict in completely different ways.
Good to know
The manga ran until 2013 across 25 volumes with a different, longer ending centered on the moon, Crona and Kid's inheritance. The anime's bravery-punch finale is original to the show. Soul Eater NOT! adapts only part of its own five-volume spinoff manga. No new Soul Eater anime has been announced as of September 17, 2026.
