This Just Cause play order follows Rico Rodriguez across all four games in release order, which matches story order. Each game moves to a new nation with a new dictator, so you can start with 2 or 3 without missing prior plot.
Good to know
Avalanche has not announced a new Just Cause game, and 2025 reporting described a fifth entry as cancelled or unlikely in the near term. Just Cause Mobile was cancelled in July 2023 and is not listed as a playable entry.
