About Life Is Strange
Life Is Strange is an episodic adventure series about teens with strange powers and the small towns that test them. Max and Chloe anchor the first game and its prequel, while later entries follow new leads: Sean and Daniel on the run, Alex Chen in Haven Springs, then Max again as an adult. Newcomers should start with Life Is Strange (2015), since its choices and friendships echo through the rest.
Release order is the recommended play order. Chronology mostly matches release anyway, with Before the Storm slotting before season 1 as a flashback that lands better second. Wavelengths is a short True Colors prequel DLC, and Double Exposure (2024) assumes you know Max, so play it last.
Good to know
The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit (2018) is a free bridge story before season 2, and the Farewell episode (2018) closes the Before the Storm deluxe edition. Both are optional. No next mainline game has been announced; Deck Nine went through layoffs in 2024, so future plans are unclear.
