About Onimusha

Onimusha is Capcom's samurai action series about Oni-powered warriors fighting the demon Genma, running from Warlords (2001) to Way of the Sword (2026). This play order follows release order, which tracks the story closely enough that no separate chronology is needed. Newcomers can start with the Warlords remaster or jump straight to Way of the Sword.

Demon Siege closes the Nobunaga storyline, and Dawn of Dreams starts a new arc with a new hero. Way of the Sword, released September 4, 2026, is the first new entry in 20 years.

Good to know

Fighting spinoff Blade Warriors (2003), tactics spinoff Onimusha Tactics (2003) and crossover appearances are excluded. Warlords was remastered in December 2018 (PC January 2019) and Samurai's Destiny in May 2025. Way of the Sword is set in Edo-period Kyoto and stars Miyamoto Musashi with the likeness of Toshiro Mifune.
