About Outlast
Outlast is Red Barrels' camcorder horror series about the Murkoff Corporation and the people it ruins. You play unarmed investigators and test subjects who can only run, hide and film. The scares move from Mount Massive Asylum to an Arizona cult to Cold War experiments.
This play order follows release order. Whistleblower overlaps the first game, and The Outlast Trials is a Cold War prequel, so release order keeps every reveal in place. New players should start with Outlast (2013), then play Whistleblower immediately after.
Good to know
The Outlast Trials launched in early access on May 18, 2023 and fully on March 5, 2024. The Murkoff Account comic (2016 to 2017) sits between Outlast and Outlast 2 and is optional. Outlast 3 was announced in December 2017 with no date or platforms, so it is not listed as an entry. A Lionsgate film was announced in October 2024 and is also undated.
