About Until Dawn
Until Dawn is Supermassive Games' interactive teen horror story about eight friends trapped on Blackwood Mountain one year after a prank killed two sisters. Player choices and quick reflexes decide who lives to sunrise. The wendigo myth from the collapsed mines drives the second half.
This play order covers the two versions of the same night. New players should play the 2024 remake, the current version with rebuilt visuals and new endings. The 2015 original matters only for history or PS4 hardware.
Good to know
The 2024 remake from Ballistic Moon (Unreal Engine 5, PS5 and PC, October 4, 2024) adds an extended prologue, Hunger totems and new post-credits scenes. Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (2016) is a VR arcade spinoff and The Inpatient (2018) is a Blackwood prequel; both are optional. The film (April 25, 2025, directed by David F. Sandberg) tells a separate time-loop story with a new cast; Peter Stormare returns as Dr. Hill, but it sits in its own continuity and is not required. No sequel has been officially announced. The remake's new endings hinted at one, but Ballistic Moon was dissolved in February 2026, and unsourced sequel-date claims online should be treated as rumor.
