About Avatar
James Cameron's Avatar saga follows Jake Sully from human Marine to Na'vi leader across three released films: Avatar (2009), The Way of Water (2022) and Fire and Ash (December 19, 2025). This is Pandora, not the animated series. That cartoon has its own separate guide on this site.
The films run in a straight line, so release order is the only list you need. Fire and Ash closed near $1.5 billion at the box office. Two sequels hold dates but stay tentative.

Fire and Ash released December 19, 2025, so as of September 2026 the saga stands at three films. Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 remain on Disney's calendar for 2029 and 2031, and a producer said in April 2026 both move ahead at full speed, yet Cameron links them to Fire and Ash returns. Dates may shift. Do not confuse this saga with Avatar: The Last Airbender, covered in a separate guide.
