About Divergent
Shailene Woodley plays Tris Prior in three Lionsgate films: Divergent (2014), The Divergent Series: Insurgent (2015) and The Divergent Series: Allegiant (2016). They adapt Veronica Roth's YA novels about a Chicago split into five factions.
Allegiant split Roth's final book and earned $179M worldwide on a $110M budget, down sharply from the first two. Lionsgate pulled the planned Ascendant finale from its June 9, 2017 date, explored a TV movie and Starz spinoff, then shelved it. The screen story stops mid book.
Good to know
Woodley said in 2016 she had not signed for TV and later called the TV plan confusing. No cast was secured for Ascendant and no pilot filmed. Watch the three films in release order. They match story order. Expect a cliffhanger with no resolution.
