About Maze Runner
Dylan O'Brien plays Thomas across three 20th Century Fox films directed by Wes Ball: The Maze Runner (2014), Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) and Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018). The trilogy adapts James Dashner's books and earned over $900M combined worldwide.
Release order is story order. The Death Cure closed the Thomas story in January 2018 after a delay caused by O'Brien's on set injury. Disney's 20th Century Studios is developing a reboot continuation with Jack Paglen writing and Ball producing, reported by The Hollywood Reporter in May 2024, with no cast, director or date.

The reboot is described as neither a redo nor a direct sequel but a continuation that returns to the first film's tone. Disney confirmed new films were in development after the Fox purchase in April 2019. Until a shoot is dated, treat the trilogy as complete.
