About The Mummy
Three films follow Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) and Evie Carnahan: The Mummy (1999), The Mummy Returns (2001) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008). The Scorpion King (2002) with Dwayne Johnson works as a spinoff prequel, while its four direct to video sequels from 2008 to 2018 recast the role and stand apart.
The Mummy (2017) with Tom Cruise launched the failed Dark Universe and sits in its own continuity. Lee Cronin's The Mummy (April 17, 2026) is a separate Warner Bros horror film. A new Universal sequel with Fraser and Rachel Weisz returning, directed by Radio Silence, is dated October 15, 2027.
Good to know
Maria Bello replaced Rachel Weisz as Evie in Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Radio Silence has said the 2027 script centers on her return, which leaves that film's canon status open. Scorpion King sequels: Rise of a Warrior (2008), Battle for Redemption (2012), Quest for Power (2015), Book of Souls (2018). Lee Cronin film grossed about $90.5M worldwide per Box Office Mojo and is unrelated to Universal continuity. The October 15, 2027 date comes from Universal via Variety and Deadline in April 2026.
