About Tron
Steven Lisberger's Tron (1982) put Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner inside a computer world and became a cult landmark after a modest run. Joseph Kosinski's Tron: Legacy (2010) follows Kevin Flynn's son Sam back into the Grid, with Bridges and Boxleitner returning. Disney XD's Tron: Uprising (2012-2013) is a 19-episode animated series set between the two films; it is optional and ends with threads unresolved.
Tron: Ares opened October 10, 2025, directed by Joachim Rønning. Jared Leto plays the program Ares, sent from the Grid into the real world, and Jeff Bridges returns. Release order matches story order except for Uprising, which slots between the first two films, so one list covers everything.
Good to know
Uprising was shifted to a midnight slot before its January 2013 finale and its streaming home has moved over the years, so check Disney+ first. As of September 2026 Disney has announced no film after Ares, but with a 2025 release fresh the franchise is marked ongoing rather than completed.
