About Hellsing
Kouta Hirano's Hellsing manga follows Integra Hellsing, Alucard and Seras Victoria against vampires, Iscariot and Millennium. Gonzo's 13 episode TV series from 2001 adapts roughly the first two volumes, then splits into an anime original plot with the villain Incognito because the manga was still running.
Watch the 10 episode Ultimate OVA series from 2006 to 2012 first. It adapts the complete manga with Millennium, the London assault and Walter's betrayal at OVA length. Save the 2001 series for a second viewing for its gothic mood and Yasushi Ishii score, knowing its second half is not canon.
Good to know
Manga ran 1997 to 2008. Ultimate episodes run up to 50 minutes each across studios Satelight, Madhouse and Graphinica. The Dawn prequel shorts were packed with Ultimate episodes 8 to 10.
