About Stargate
Stargate starts with Roland Emmerich's 1994 film, then Stargate SG-1 runs ten seasons and 214 episodes from 1997 to 2007. Stargate Atlantis launched in 2004 and ran five seasons to 2009, overlapping SG-1's last three years on Friday nights. Stargate Universe closed the run with two seasons from 2009 to 2011, ending on a cliffhanger.
Two direct-to-DVD films finish SG-1's story. The Ark of Truth (March 2008) wraps the Ori arc from the final seasons, and Continuum (July 2008) is a time-travel epilogue built around Ba'al. Both slot into the Atlantis run, so this list keeps them in release order.
Good to know
SG-1 seasons 8 to 10 and Atlantis seasons 1 to 3 aired side by side. The two shows rarely cross over, so watching each season straight through in release order works and episode-by-episode interleaving is optional. In story terms Continuum fits best after the Atlantis season 5 premiere Search and Rescue, but release order holds it where the DVD came out. Stargate Infinity (2002 animated series) is non-canon and Stargate Origins (2018 web prequel) is optional, so neither is listed. An untitled reboot is listed as TBA with no date or cast as of September 17, 2026.
